Mark Bahnisch

I'm a sociologist, writer, blogger and consultant and I've lived in Brisbane all my life. I teach at QUT, live in lovely New Farm and am passionate about this town. I'm interested in its history, its unique forms of sociality — half a degree of separation around these parts — and its ever-changing cityscape.

I write about Brisbane's culture and politics at well-known blog, Larvatus Prodeo, post photos at deviantart, and am starting up a Brisbane culture blog called Brisculture. I'm chuffed to have contributed to distinguished local print publications like Griffith Review. I've also got a book proposal on Brissie in the works!

What are your favourite things to do on a Sunday?

Sleep in! Brunch at the Alibi Room, walk along the river, and catch up with friends for a lazy beer at Bar Alto.

How would you spend a long weekend?

Pretty much the same way I'd spend any weekend, but maybe with the added extra of a road trip to the mountains to visit some of the wineries and distilleries at Tambourine.

What's your idea of a good night out?

Chilling with good friends, listening to some jazz — maybe at Glass Bar or The Bowery — then dinner in Chinatown.
