I first moved to our nation's capital more than 10 years ago as a student. Since then I have moved in and out several times but can't seem to resist the lure of the city and always end up coming back.
Over the years I have experienced London as an impoverished student, a young professional, a clubber, a gourmand, a shopper, a cinephile, a tour guide and as a journalist. It is the life both equal parts joy and strife, but London never fails to captivate.
What's your favourite thing to do on a Sunday?
Like most Londoners, I live for the weekends. I usually start my Sundays with a
yoga class before picking up some brunch at
Ottolenghi's. If the weather is good I'll eat my brunch in Holland Park before seeing a film at the
Gate Cinema.
How would you spend a long weekend?
London's location makes it ideal for escapes out of the city. The Cotswalds, Oxford, Bournemouth or Canterbury are all within two hours or so of London by rail. My personal favourite escape is London-By-The-Sea, Brighton, where I will shop in the boutiques of the North Laines such as Sirene or Tribeca, dine at
Terre a Terre and drink in the Duke of Cambridge.
What's your idea of a good night out?
I'd start with a pre-dinner glass of wine at
Smithy's wine bar before having a Modern British organic dinner at
Acorn House. I'd hop on the tube and head two stops down to
Favela Chic where the cocktails are gorgeous and the punters even more so.
