Spend your first day as per the recommended 24-hour hour itinerary, and on day two check out the following:
Montmartre
Head to Montmartre bright and early to avoid the crowds. Visit the Sacre Coeur Cathedral and explore the charming, cobbled streets such as Rue Lepic and Rue des Abbesses, which once inspired some of the world's most famous artists.
Peckish?
Chomp on an enormous salad at Le Relais Gascon restaurant in Abesses, a short walk from the Scare Coeur.
Time for contemporary art
Head to the edgy
Pompidou Centre, near the Marais, for one of their fantastic exhibitions. The building is a modernist's dream and worth a visit in itself. Take the external, transparent, tube-escalators to the top for a great view.
Give the credit card a work-out
Hit the groovy boutiques and vintage shops in the 3rd arrondissement. The best streets are Rue Vielle du Temple, Rue de Poitou, Rue Charlot and Rue de Bretagne. The area is also home to some of Paris's best private contemporary art galleries, such as Galerie Karsten Greve and Thaddeus Ropac.
Stop for a green moment
Take a pit-stop on a park bench in the beautiful, historic Place des Vosges Square. Built in the seventeenth century, it's the oldest square in the capital. The small park in the middle is surrounded by elegant townhouses and archways.
Dine time
Stock up on baguette, camembert and wine and join Parisians on the Ponts des Arts to watch the sun go down over the river. Or dine in style on luscious fare at L'Office restaurant.
