The ultimate Twilight holiday!

Twilight

Twilight fan? Forget signing up to fan forums, decking out your room in Bella and Edward posters, or buying multiple copies of the book set (one for reading, one for storage, one in case the others are lost in a fire). Why not get closer to the characters you love so much by actually visiting Forks, Washington state?

You won't have the place to yourself, though. "Twilight tourism" has become an unexpected and rapidly growing phenomenon in Forks. The Peninsula Daily News reported a total of 16,186 people passed through the Forks Visitor Center in July — doubling June's number of 8702 — and in one month nearly reaching the entire year's total for 2008, 18,485 people.

And of course, some of the locals have been getting in on the act. There are loads of unofficial tours, and even a DIY travel guide to Forks, which lists "sights", such as a 1956 Chevy truck painted red by one of the town's enterprising residents and referred to as Bella's truck (although note: it's not actually from the movie).

But if you've come this far, you may as well go the whole hog with Intrepid Travel's Twilight Trails, which will take you to official film locations and the stunning landscapes featured in the movie. Kicking off in Portland, Oregon, and ending in Seattle, Washington, this 13-day adventure will see you strolling Cannon Beach (remember, where Jacob Black warns Bella about Edward and the Cullens), visiting the "Thunderbird and Whale" bookstore and hiking the trail where all those super-romantic forest scenes between Bella and Edward were shot. That piece of grass you're stepping on? Maybe Robert Pattinson once stepped there, too! (Or was it this piece of grass?)

Other highlights of this trip include St Helens, Hood River, Oxbow Park, View Point Inn (where the high school prom was held), the town of Forks including Forks High School, the Cullen and Swan family homes, Jacob Black's home in LaPush and Port Angeles. The trip is available from June to September 2010, from $2255 per person.

Of course, there's one thing missing in this picture. The stars! So if you really want to earn your fan-girl/boy stripes, we recommend you not only get on board the Twilight tour of film locations, but cap off your trip with a Twilight Convention at Sea cruise where you will actually get to hang out with some of the actors from the film. OMG!

Setting sail from Seattle on August 8, 2010, this eight-day Twilight Convention at Sea includes a Q&A session with Ashley Greene (who played Alice Cullen) and Michael Welch (Mike Newton), plus Alex Meraz from the upcoming Twilight sequel New Moon. (Sorry, no R-Pattz, but we're pretty sure Robert Pattinson would not have lasted five minutes on the cruise before being ripped to pieces by crazed Twi-fans!) There will also be a group photoshoot, autograph session and a costume ball.

This cruise doesn't come cheap. Prices vary, starting at $1160, not including the registration fees and taxes. But can you really put a price on your love for Bella and Edward? We didn't think so.

I have read the whole Twilight series and loved it, I was a bit dissapointed with Twilight the movie, New Moon is a bit better and we shall see witht the rest of the movies. I am actually sitting her shaking my head in disbelief, Twilight Tours? You have to be kiddig me? I love to read adn I read anything from Dean Kootz to Jodi Picoult and agree witht he readers here who say a great book is a beautil way to escape reality, imagination and words combined can take you to soem really beautil places. But, tours I thinka re going a bit far, although I guess there are soem people who will go on then, just not me...
Hmmm...i too thought that the majority of filming was done in Canada...wasn't it?? I'm a 33 year old 'twi-mum'.I simply can't put it down,on 5th time through the books & lost count of movie viewings LOL Yes, I know it seems sad to some but I don't see how it's any worse that the Trekkies (sp??), or Star Wars fans, or those that go to do the Sound of Music Tour. I wouldn't go overseas specifically to see these places or do the twilight tours, but if i was in America or Canada I'd drop by for a look for sure. Not all twilight fans are love-sick tweens *** after robert pattinson - in fact probably the majority of us are ordinary people who have appreciated the injection of romance and fantasy escape from the everyday. I don't see how it could be a bad thing to have many young people reading again and using their imagination, the same as happened with Harry Potter. Anythign that inspires the younger generation, especially, to pick up a book must be a good thing regardless of genre.
Some ppl get too worked up over something they apparently dont like, which i find hypocritical??? It was a series aimed at young adults, but just like the Harry Potter series, it took off & ppl from all age groups & walks of life loved it! It's a fantasy series, its not real, & ppl like it for that reason, its an escape from reality! I personally am a huge fan, and i'm 28, but i dont care! I know lots of ppl my age that love the series too. I am well-read, i love Jane Austen books (among many other authors), but i also love Harry Potter AND the Twilight series, and i'm an adult! *gasp!* I do agree that Stephenie Meyer isn't the best writer out there, but who cares? It's not about the writing, its about the CONTENT, its a romance, which i think is great, its all about the fantasy & fun of it, so if you have no imagination, then the Twilight saga is not for you, just my 2c.
I'm a Twi-hard fan, Love the Romance haha...or is that the vampires?hmm...anyone wana shout me over to 'Forks'? Come on lotto...woohoo get me the reeeeal Twilight experience!!
OMG!!! What are these people talking about. I am not a young teenager, I am a mother of 3. I have read lots of books. I think the Twilight Series is great. I think most people know that it is not real. Sometimes it is nice to take a break from reality. Think of how many people don't normally read books, and thanks to Twilight, know they do. Everyone just needs to take a step back and think of the positives that have come from all of this. All 3 of my children have read the books, and the youngest is a 10 year old boy. I wouldn't go as far as take the tours. BUT if I was to go to America, I would certainly like to take a drive and see the beautiful places where Twilight was made, along with lots of other great places.
You make a good point in saying that 'Twilight is just the only book they've ever read'. Now why don't you stop and think about that for a second....our country's literacy rates are pretty steadily declining. So if all these younglings are getting so obsessed with one book series does it really matter....at least they ARE reading, even if it is a book of poor writing quality. And if Twilight is what they are interested in, then chances are that most of them aren't going to go for the complicated language of the days gone by. So my view is, if it gets them reading then why not let them go mad for it?? It's the same with the Harry Potter series really. Rowling is (in my opinion) not that great a writer.
umm... yer, we um... sorta know that they're not acctually vampires. at least we have an imagination! but zoomg, i would NEVER go screaming after him, i feels so sorry for him
As much as i like muse and the runaways, TWILIGHT IS THE bEST!!! I've been to forks before, and the tours are great, don't worry it's n ot that expensive but the prices are rising because of the tourists going there just beacause of twilight
really? are these people serious ook twilight, yh its good, i couldnt put it down. .. but its NOT REAAL. i mean cmon, they are just doing their job, people really need to stop obsessing. thats just stalkerish to go to that place
I ask all those Twilight fans out there (of which i am one but not sure on the answer to this) Wasnt most of the movies shot in Canada?
